Dear all
We are glad to post new discussions under the framework of the “CUELC” project to activate the communication between project members and between students as well.
In the beginning we would like to share with you , our ideas and yours in this e-learning matter by trying to answer and discuss the following question :
Do you think that e-learning could be effective for computer engineering and/or science students? How much and in what subjects would it be more likely to work better?"
Thanks
How do you expect an elearning solution in our department to be like. WHat is the effect you expect it to have on students performance (positive or negative)?
I think e-learning can be quite influencial regarding most of the subjects we take. I mean, i dont recall a single subject or topic that i have studied, that wasn't in some way aided by what i could look up on the topic through the internet
Moreover, i think that certain fields, more than others, will have a more direct and obvious advantage, such as in those regarding studies of computer languages and the such. I mean, reading about a programming language and hearing it in the lecture is good, but it is nothing like having the instructor demonstrate the certain feature he is explaining on a computer and having the students interact on the spot is quite differential
finally, i think that having and e-learning system might prove effective to keep an archive of sorts. It would be most essential for projects, grad projects and even for studying through the curriculum. An archive of the lectures past would really come in handy when the student got into a tight spot, and having an archive of open-source and documentation of old projects would enable us to step further forward with our projects
cheers
